We raised 67 battalions in World War 2, earning 108 battle honours, 2 VCs and 1 GC. 4th Foot (Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment). We raised 176 battalions in World War 1, earning 124 battle honours, 43 VCs and 1 GC. Our 12 Regiments were formally linked by name to their recruiting areas in the North West. The 4th, or King’s Own Regiment of Foot, was raised by King Charles II. We recruit from the Mersey to Scotland, the Pennines to the Isle of Man. Our Regiment was formed on 1st July 2006, by the amalgamation of the King's Own Royal Border Regiment, the King's Regiment and the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
